I’m going to let you in on a little secret about the wedding industry here in Southern California. A lot of the times the gigs you get as a vendor comes not from advertising on wedding sites, but referrals. Now word of mouth from individuals are the most popular, but when a venue vouches for you, it’s amazing as well.
When I first started doing work as a DJ, it was impossible to get on these referrals (known as “vendor lists” in the industry). It was frustrating, because it really felt it was the big boys looking out for the big boys, you know? Early on in my career, RimRock was one of the first venues that put me on their list, trusting me to bring the good times out in the desert.
An even though a trip out there ends up being 320 miles roundtrip, six hours of commuting and essentially a 19 hour day, I always keep my doors open to couples who want to vibe with me! Who’s down for a desert trip?
