What a year it has been. After the jet-setting pace of 2023, where it seemed every client was out of town, this year I was a bit more closer to home, give or take a couple of performances. I had the chance to work on some side projects: My fan-centric baseball podcast In The Booth and my sports/comedy blog, Just The Sandwich being a couple. But if you’re on this site, you’re probably wondering how either the stand-up comedy or the mobile DJ life has been treating me.
No sugarcoating here: There have been some challenges.
Despite the fact I had the opportunity to perform for my couples in multiple states and I’ve crossed over the 150th wedding threshold, business is pretty much down industry-wide. And while no other vendor would openly admit this, I bet you’ve seen a sharp rise in “Hurry! 2025 dates are filling up FAST” sorts of posts. People have said folks don’t have the disposable income, or that the post-COVID loneliness epidemic has finally reared its ugly head when it comes to weddings. There may be some truth to that, or they may not be, I myself try not to take too much stock in that sort of thing. I WILL say however, if you’re reading this and have a future event in mind, please take a moment to really consider smaller vendors and individuals over some of the bigger companies that can operate on volume. Even if, sadly, you don’t end up considering me.

(And why would ya not? Haha)
That said, 2025 is looking bright. It seems more couples are looking to tie the knot then then the last two years and we may see the return of the “everyday” birthday bash-style events. It seemed there was a minute there where people would only save for that sort of stuff on milestone birthdays.
It’s the darkness before the dawn and I’m thrilled what’s to come. That’s the best part about being an entertainer.
